Recent London credits include Bakkhai, A Delicate Balance, Judgment Day (Almeida); The Wolf from the Door, Circle Mirror Transformation (Royal Court); The Father (Theatre Royal Bath/Tricycle/ Wyndhams); Roots (Donmar); The Arrest of Ai Weiwei (Hampstead); Dido Queen of Carthage, The Hour We Knew Nothing of Each Other, Exiles (National Theatre); Glengarry Glen Ross (West End). From 1992 to 2006, Macdonald was associate director of the Royal Court. He also directed the film version of Caryl Churchill’s A Number for HBO.
