Kayla Davion (Lady in Red, for colored girls) is a multifaceted actor, producer, writer, and educator based in New York City. A proud graduate of Ball State University, Kayla made history as the first student from Ball State to book a Broadway show before graduation—setting the tone for a groundbreaking career. Her Broadway credits include the Tony Award-winning musical TINA: The Tina Turner Musical (as Tina Turner), Elf (Jovie), Waitress, and King Kong—for which she received the prestigious Chita Rivera Award. Most recently, she appeared as Joanne in the Tony Award-winning play Liberation, earning a Lucille Lortel Award nomination. Off-Broadway, she starred as Florence in White Girl in Danger, and regionally, she has portrayed iconic roles such as Jody Watley in The Hippest Trip: Soul Train the Musical and Celie in The Color Purple. On screen, Kayla’s credits include the television series “The Good Fight,” “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” and the Disney+ film Better Nate Than Ever. Twice, she has made history as the first African American woman to portray traditionally white roles on Broadway—solidifying her place as a bold, history-making artist.
