Ariella Serur (Book, Music & Lyrics, Night of Songs, We Start in Manhattan)(they/she) and Sav Souza (Book, Music & Lyrics, Night of Songs, We Start in Manhattan) (they/them) are a real-life couple and writing duo based in Bushwick, which is both a location and a lifestyle choice. Their two hander musical We Start In Manhattan – for which they are the performers and writers – has been developed at Powerhouse Theater at Vassar College and Live & In Color (Awarded a NAMT Frank Young Fund for New Musicals Grant). Powerhouse Theater also presented the first NYC industry presentation of the show. Ariella is a graduate of the BMI Lehman Engle Musical Theatre Writing Workshop and is a composer in BMI’s Advanced Workshop. Ariella’s select performance credits include: 1776 (Broadway, A.R.T., Nat’l Tour); Fiddler On The Roof (A.C.T of Connecticut); RENT (Redhouse Arts Center). Sav’s musical Retrograde was developed in The Polyphone Festival of New Works and their play Father//Daughter was developed at Fresh Ground Pepper’s BRB Artists Retreat. Their select performance credits include: Regency Girls (Old Globe), 1776 (Broadway, A.R.T., Nat’l Tour); Other World (Delaware Theatre Company); Lempicka (Williamstown Theatre Festival).
